Red Ombre Hair Trend
Everybody adores different and edgy hair. Natural colors can get boring and it is quite over due. Let’s talk about ombre hair. Using shading and color to create the ombre effect is genius. Ombre originated in fabric printing, when factories used a special printing block called a “rainbowed” block, it was utilized in the early 19th century to make textiles with a graduated color effect. Ombre became a hair-coloring trend when the 2000 artist Aaliyah had her hair dyed in a soft gradual fade from black at the roots to a brighter color towards the tips of her hair. All the way to 2010, the ombre hair trend was still in full effect. Many celebrities had adopted this cool style such as Lauren Conrad, Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, Alexa Chung, and even Jared Leto, the list never stops. After the popularization of ombre hair, the beautiful trend even spread to other means of beauty such as nail art.
Hair stylist often will find that the ombre hair requires very little upkeep, which inevitably makes it easier to maintain. Ombre was initially the gradual soft lightening of the hair from dark to light, but it has grew to be something bigger than that. With more techniques coming about, including the gradual fading of a natural color from the roots, to a more unnatural color, such as red. Boy oh boy, red is totally in! Whether it is a fire hot red, or a subtle burgundy, it will definitely make people look. Here is how to achieve this cool look:
Step 1: Prelighten hair to a Level 6/7 with 30-volume developer from mid-shaft to ends, then go back and apply on roots to make sure product is saturated thoroughly throughout the entire head. Depending on the porosity and natural level of your client’s hair you can formulate with a lower-volume developer.
Step 2: Shampoo and towel dry. Apply Wella Color Touch ( Wella Professionals is a brand of hair color dye ) 44/65 from roots to ends. Process according to instructions.
Step 3: Shampoo and blow dry. Section the hair in quadrants. Forehead to nape, ear to ear. Starting in the back, weave 1/2-inch sections. A thicker weave creates a more dramatic look. In this step-by-step, very thick weaves were used. Tease the hair from mid-shaft to roots about 5 times. The more you tease, the softer the ombre blends.
Step 4: Apply lightener with 20-volume developer on the ends. While applying, feather the color with downward strokes using the brush vertically. Here is a cool tip, applying the lightener horizontally creates a harsh, blunt line.
Step 5: When working on the front two quads, take 1/2-inch diagonal forward sections, then tease and apply lightener with the same technique as in steps 3 and 4.
Step 6: Lift the ombre highlights until the desired level is achieved.
Ombre will remain one of the trendiest hair color because you have so many different options to choose from! Also because it is ridiculously low maintenance, since your hair roots usually remains its natural color. You can see the variety of this trend in nearly every runway and magazine.
